Leines, entrepreneur, community leader, musician, and woman of strong faith passed away peacefully in Medford, Ore. September 5, 2014. Born in Portland, Ore. January 1, 1930 to Albert and Loretto Weller, Lenore spent her high school years studying music and singing lead roles in community musicals and operas. Lenore was also a vocal finalist on the national Ted Mack Radio Show. In addition to performing, Lenore held many leadership roles at Holy Child Catholic Girls School. She went on to attend Lewis and Clark College and graduated in three years with a Music Education degree in 1953. Upon graduation, Lenore married Henry M. Leines, also a Lewis and Clark graduate. They remained in Portland to start and raise their family. Lenore continued to perform, starring in productions such as The Mikado, Show Boat, Student Prince, and Cosi FanTutte, and to volunteer for causes close to her heart. In 1964, Lenore, Henry, and their five children relocated to Medford, Ore. Lenore quickly integrated into the arts, education, and political communities. Lenore became a sought-after soloist for banquets, weddings, funerals, and award ceremonies, and sang for both President Ford and President Ronald Reagan. She was one of the founding board members of the Britt Festival and served as President of Rogue Opera and of Republican Women. Lenore was a loyal volunteer for Rogue Valley Symphony, Tudor Guild at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Catholic Daughters, Alter Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Providence Guild at Providence Hospital, Friends of the Library of Talent, and Brava Opera. In addition to her many volunteer involvements, Lenore was passionate about her work. She was a skilled voice teacher, and under her guidance many of her students went on to win local, state, and national awards. The Veterans' Administration Domiciliary employed Lenore as a church organist for 25 years. She was also an organist for Perl's and Conger-Morris funeral homes. For over 30 years, Lenore was also a small-business owner and greatly enjoyed serving her clients by delivering quality advertising-specialty items through Newton Manufacturing Co. and Classic Enterprises. Even during her final weeks of life, Lenore was actively working, volunteering, and connecting with her community organizations and family members. Lenore will be remembered as a positive force for good; a great supporter of organizations and individuals; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and an effervescent, bright-eyed spirit whose legacy is optimism, joy, and love for all people. Lenore is survived by her six children; Henry M. Leines Jr. of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Loretto Danner of Jefferson, Ore., Lisabeth Black of Issaquah, Wash., Maureen Becker of Medford, Ore., Lawrence Leines of Tuscon, Ariz., Patricia Pine of Boulder, Colo., nineteen grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. Leines Sr. and brother, William Weller. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday September 13, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located on the corner of 10th and Oakdale, Medford, Ore. A reception will be held immediately following Lenore's Memorial Mass in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Reception Hall adjacent to the church. Rosary Vigil will be held from 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Veteran's Administration Domiciliary Chapel, 8495 Crater Lake Hwy. White City, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to Brava! Opera Theater and James M. Collier Young Artist Program, 2650 Country Park Lane, Medford, Oregon 97504. Arrangements made by Conger-Morris Funeral Home.
