GPD jockey, trainer have eventful days Jun 13, 1999 12:00 AM A A GRANTS PASS -- Jockey Keith Rough and trainer Mark Garrison demonstrated the right stuff Saturday at Grants Pass Downs. The Rough-Garrison combination accounted for four victories on the 11-race card at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. The two local horsemen are duplicating their success of a year ago when they won the leading jockey and trainer awards during the GPD meet. The productive day by the Grants Pass jockey/trainer duo moved both to the top of their respective standings. Rough, who has 19 victories after eight racing days at GPD, catapulted past Joe Crispin into first place in the jockey standings. Crispin, who added two victories Saturday, and Rough both had 15 winners entering the weekend at GPD. But Crispin led in the standings over the defending leading rider because of an 11-8 edge in seconds. Garrison's four victories gives the 32-year-old trainer nine in the meet, two better than runner-up Bob Beckner.
