Woman injured during house fire By Terri Harber Updated: Aug 18, 2021 06:36 PM A A Fallen power line ignited blaze A Medford woman was transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after crews responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Newtown Street. The woman, who lives at the location, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Medford Fire-Rescue reported. The fire, reported at 2:52 p.m., started when a power line fell into dry grass in the area. Fire officials said they didn’t know what caused the power line to fall. “Dry conditions were a contributing factor to the spread of the fire,” said Deputy Fire Marshal Mark Shay. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and damage to the home was considered minor, Shay added. He estimated that firefighters were able to knock down the fire within four minutes.
