House fire spreads to quarter-acre wildfire Sunday By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Aug 07, 2022 04:31 PM A A Firefighters limited a wildfire to a quarter-acre after a two-story house burned in Kerby Sunday. [IVFD photo] A two-story structure fire that broke out about 11:30 Sunday morning on Kerby Street in the the town of Kerby spread into a quarter-acre wildland fire, the Illinois Valley Fire Department reported. IVFD and the Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest Oregon District responded, and a second alarm was activated, due to the fire size and potential for it to spread, officials said. Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County and Grants Pass Fire Rescue responded to the additional call. The fire was controlled and the second alarm was canceled. Rural Metro moved up to cover the district, IVFD said. After the fire was mopped up and the scene was cleared, ODF remained on scene to investigate the cause.
