Oregon State Police are awaiting results from an examination of the "black box" in deputy Randy Arnold’s cruiser, said OSP Lt. Kurt Barthel. The device logs the vehicle’s speed for several minutes before impact, he said. Rosannetta Cloud, 61, remained at Rogue Valley Medical Center Tuesday, where she was treated for a broken shoulder, pelvis and ribs, family members said. Cloud’s four-door sedan was totaled when it collided the afternoon of Aug. 9 with Arnold’s patrol car at the intersection of Ingalls and Harlan drives in White City. Cloud has improved and may be moved to a local nursing facility, said her brother, David Hyatt, of Central Point. OSP investigators have not talked to Cloud about the crash, and her family has received no explanation of the event, Hyatt said. Arnold was not injured and has remained on duty, said Sheriff Mike Winters. The crash is the second involving a sheriff’s deputy this year. Deputy Jennifer Farmer was cited in February for failing to yield when entering a roadway. Driving a sheriff’s office Ford Explorer near Eagle Point, Farmer made a U-turn on Highway 62 at Ball Road the evening of Jan. 24 and turned into the path of a Dodge utility truck driven by Bryan Wyatt. Farmer and Wyatt were treated at Rogue Valley Medical Center for minor injuries and released.
