Raider women drop Warner Pacific ASHLAND Emily Wiley scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Southern Oregon womens basketball team to a convincing 61-45 Cascade Conference win over Warner Pacific on Friday. The Raiders struggled from the field, converting only 36 percent of their shots, but held Warner Pacific to 19-for-50 shooting. The Knights fell to 17-9 overall and 7-6 in conference action. Southern Oregon (13-11, 10-2 Cascade) led 31-24 at halftime but slowly pulled away in the second half. "Defensively, we did a better job and on the boards we were much better in the second half," said SOU coach Shirley Huyett. "It (rebounding) gave us a lot more opportunities to score the ball." Lindsey Hilaire added a team-high 12 points for Southern Oregon and Alison Richards dished out seven assists. Tiwana Merritt led a tenacious defensive attack with four steals as the Raiders scored 21 points off 20 Warner Pacific turnovers. Wiley, a former Crater High standout who leads the conference in blocked shots, swatted away two of SOUs eight on the game. Jaime Stanford did not play for SOU due to an ankle injury suffered on Wednesday. She is doubtful to see any action on Tuesday when the Raiders travel to take on Concordia.
