(Photo from Medford Fire-Rescue Facebook page) A structure fire at a Medford tire business early Wednesday morning drew a sizable two-agency response to the scene and temporarily shut down a nearby intersection, fire officials said. Emergency dispatch first received a call about the fire, located at All-American Tires and Wheels, 940 N. Central Ave., at 12:04 a.m., Medford Fire-Rescue battalion chief Jason John said. Police arrived prior to fire units and confirmed smoke was coming from the building, John said. The first crews to arrive opened up the building, which was filled with thick black smoke. “Tires got involved but it wasn’t particularly a tire fire,” John said. “The smoke production, you can definitely tell those were involved.” Units from Medford Fire-Rescue and Jackson County Fire District No. 3 responded, with a total of five engines, two ladder trucks and about 34 personnel, John said. Crews found the fire’s source on the second floor toward the back of the building. It took about 30 minutes to knock the blaze down. Crews also cut a hole in the structure’s roof to vent the thick smoke. The intersection at Central Avenue and Edwards Street shut down for about a half hour during the response, John said.
