With the Comets serving for the match, Churchill managed to get a sideout and scored two straight points to rally and force a fifth set. The Lancers rode their newfound momentum to a 25-20, 20-25, 14-25, 27-25, 15-12 Midwestern League victory. “It was a good match,” said Crater coach Leaf Jensen. “We had them in the fourth game. We had them and had a shot at it but just couldn’t pull it together right there when we needed to. It was one of those things. Then we came out a little flat in the fifth.” The Comets’ outside hitters put together monster performances with Destiny Fahndrich racking up 25 kills and 24 digs and Nicole Morse recording 17 kills and 17 digs. Freshman Rane Jensen had 16 digs and two aces for Crater (8-4, 2-2 MWL), and Tori Ianieri added seven kills. ROSEBURG 3, NORTH MEDFORD 0: At Roseburg, North Medford had difficulty with Roseburg's serving in a 25-14, 25-9, 25-20 Southwestern Conference loss. Taelor Mayben, a junior setter, had the best all-around game for the Black Tornado (6-8, 3-3 SWC) with eight digs and four assists. Emily Carter added six kills for North and sophomore outside Kiley Pauck had three kills. MARIST 3, EAGLE POINT 0: At Eugene, Marist used its height and athleticism to post a 25-7, 25-8, 25-10 MWL victory. For Eagle Point (1-10, 0-5 MWL), Ryleigh Gainey had four kills, six digs and four assists and Aliah Darling added three kills and six digs. Kylene Briggs, an Eagle senior middle, contributed three kills, seven digs, one block and one ace. HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, BUTTE FALLS 0: At Klamath Falls, Butte Falls outside hitter Katie Munsell passed at 75 percent to go with four kills in a 25-9, 25-18, 26-24 Mountain Valley League loss. Hosanna was effective in shutting down the Loggers (4-4, 1-2 MVL) middle and played well defensively.
