The Challengers (15-6, 8-1 SCL) were missing four key players but didn’t miss a beat in a 71-57 victory over Chiloquin Friday at Superior Athletic Club. "We really didn’t take care of the ball very well tonight," said Morse. "We finished up with 21 turnovers, so we’re happy to come away with a win. I thought Brandon Fair came up big tonight, and Lucas Collins gave us some quality minutes." Fair led all scorers with 22 points. He drained three 3-pointers en route to 12 points in the first quarter. Collins jumped in with 12 points and eight rebounds. Mychal Sha came up with 18 for the Challengers, who won their eighth SCL game. John Gettman sat out, having separated a shoulder last week against St. Mary’s. Cascade Christian was also without Whit Bohannan (broken toe), Greg Williams (flu) and Matt Hammonds (kidney stones). "I think we have better depth than anybody in the league," Morse said. "We’re seeing some of the benefits. "I can’t say enough for Brandon Fair’s game." The Challengers benefited from two 8-0 runs. They erased a 21-20 deficit in the second quarter to go up 28-21. Cascade Christian erupted for eight unanswered points again in the fourth period to expand their lead to 48-38. ST MARY’S 75, BONANZA 55 — At Bonanza, Warren Cooper scored 17 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to spark sixth-ranked St. Mary’s to its 21st straight SCL victory spanning three seasons. Freshman point guard Austin Grant helped the Crusaders to a 41-27 halftime lead by by scoring 14 of his 15 points before intermission. Michael Fiddler led all scorers with 22 points for St. Mary’s (14-5, 9-0 SCL), while Greg Gradwell added 12 points and seven assists. ST. MARYS (75) — Bladek 1, Kulig 3, A. The Loggers (16-5 overall, 10-1 Sky A) erupted for 23 first-quarter points to set the tone early. Isaac Stephenson had 11 assists for Butte Falls. New Hope (9-7, 9-2 Sky A) used an effective fast break led by senior point guard Titus Lockard, who had 17 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
