Allred cruises to RVCC title Former Ashland High standout Jason Allred saved his best for last Sunday in the final round of the Rogue Valley Country Club Championships. Allred shot a 66 and led wire-to-wire en route to the men�s title of the three-day tournament. Allred, a junior-to-be at Pepperdine University, finished with a 7-under-par 207 to coast to the win with the nearest competitor, Tom Smith, finishing seven strokes back at an even-par 216. Allred posted a 69 in the first round on Friday and followed up with a 72 on Saturday to build a six stroke lead. Smith trailed by only three strokes after Friday but slipped in Round 2 with a 75. He finished with a final-round 69. Jim Smith fell from a second-place tie at 147 heading into Sunday�s action to a third-place tie with Mark DeBoer at 222. Dave Schoenmann and Jay Klemp tied for fifth at 223. Trina Rasmussen also led from the outset, finishing with a 241 for the Ladies title. Rasmussen extended her lead with each round, shooting an 85 on Sunday to finish 10 strokes up on second-place Linda Johnson. Johnson trailed by four strokes heading into the final round but struggled with a 91 to finish at 251. Demi Waliser was third at 257 while Ellie Mitchell took fourth with a 259. Gayle Jantzer and Sarah Anderson tied for fifth at 260. Greg Miller took the seniors championship with a 218 while Craig Galpern and John Dunkin tied for second at 229. Dave Boals finished fourth with a 233 and Dan Dixon fifth at 235. Jim Quincy won the 65-up, super seniors title with a 230 while Dick Swanson finished second at 240. Wally Farr and Bob Buck each carded a 241 for a third-place tie and Dom Provost took fifth at 246.
