Medford robber sought in 3 dozen bank heists in West Police say a man who robbed a Medford bank last week is apparently the same man who held up nearly three dozen banks and was featured on the television show "America's Most Wanted." The man who robbed the Bank of Southern Oregon on May 6 appears to be the same suspect known to the FBI as responsible for about 35 robberies in the western United States, Medford police Lt. Tim George said. George credited the FBI for its work on the case. Bank photos, the method of operation and the suspect description made the link. The man has struck in Oregon before, and also has robbed banks in Washington, Idaho and Utah. He was featured on "America's Most Wanted" in September 1998. As for why the man chose Medford, "that is the million-dollar question," George said. That's why police are asking for additional public information on the man. The man may have rented a motel room or had a meal in the area. Someone in Medford or the surrounding area may have information about him, he said. The robber is described as white, 25-30 years old, and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9. He has a slender build, a thin face, is clean-shaven, has short dark hair and was described as looking dirty. He was wearing a blue Nike baseball cap, wraparound sunglasses and a long-sleeved blue zip-up sweatshirt. The Bank of Southern Oregon was robbed about 2:40 p.m. on May 6. The branch is at 2600 E.
