He was born August 29, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Rev. Francis and Carol Jensen. He grew up in Tehachapi, Calif. where he learned to play trumpet. He excelled in track, winning many medals in competitions throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Sam attended Bakersfield College for one year, then attended Pasadena Nazarene College where he studied voice production with Earle Anderson. Later he studied voice with Maestro Guido Casselotti. In subsequent years Sam produced and recorded 10 long-play sacred vocal records and directed choirs and orchestras in Apostolic Faith churches in Minneapolis and Los Angeles and at camp meetings in Edwardsville and Murphysborough, Ill. He retired to the Rogue Valley in 1994. Sam is survived by his wife, Virginia; sons, Peter and Timothy Jensen; daughters, Roxanna Rael and Rosanna Lambert; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joy Mushrush and Faith Waddell. The family wishes to thank Hearthstone Manor and Asante Hospice for their care of Sam during his final illness. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise in Medford, Ore. with the internment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
