The attention surrounding her relatively paltry prize of $853,492 has been more than enough. From media requests to nonstop phone calls, the frenzy since Wednesday has been intense. "It’s scary and we didn’t even win the big one," said Zitzner, 42. "I don’t know how you’d handle that big of a responsibility." She and her husband, Todd, 44, who run their own Jacksonville custom construction firm, won one of 49 runner-up prizes in the multistate Powerball contest. Not regular players, the pair joined thousands of other last-minute loot-seekers drawn by the record pot. The Zitzners validated their claim Thursday at Oregon Lottery headquarters in Salem, officials said, but the giant check they received was just a stand-in for the actual cash, which will arrive in a couple of weeks. After taxes, the Zitzners expect to keep about $500,000. Advertisement "Basically, we’ll just use it to pay off debts," she said. "We’ve had investors who believed in our vision and now we’ll be able to repay them more quickly." By Friday, the lottery roller-coaster was receding, said Zitzner. "I’m down here helping lay tile," she said. "It’s the same-ole, same-ole."
