An organization focused on helping Jackson County residents impacted in the Almeda and South Obenchain fires wants to hear from locals who lost homes in the fires before the end of November. Any Southern Oregonian who lost their primary residence is asked to participate in a survey surrounding unmet needs, according to a release issued Monday by the Jackson County Community Long Term Recovery Group, a public benefit corporation funded by Catholic Charities of Oregon. The organization will use information from the surveys to help Catholic Charities disaster case managers create recovery plans tailored for each survivor, and compile the survey results into a report documenting the scope of unmet needs in the community. The survey report will be used to apply for grants, and to seek additional recovery funding from community organizations and local government. “The JCC LTRG hopes that this report will provide sufficient validation for organizations to fund our recovery efforts,” the release states. The Long Term Recovery Group asks all local victims to participate, regardless of their needs and whether they’ve received prior assistance. The recovery group says that the results will only be shared with local, non-government organizations.
