DUII Medford man wanted in head-on collision case Driver allegedly was under the influence while behind the wheel A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Medford man who allegedly caused a head-on collision while driving under the influence of intoxicants and then failed to show up for a court date. Jackson County Circuit Judge Raymond White issued the warrant after Jesse Lynn Sword, 32, of the 2900 block of Rosewood Street failed to appear in court Wednesday. Sword faces charges of third-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, failure to drive within a lane and refusal to take a test for intoxicants. On May 16, Medford police were dispatched to a report of a head-on collision at the intersection of East Vilas and North Foothill Roads in Central Point. Driver Ashley Gilliame said Sword allegedly made a wide turn and crossed into her lane, striking her vehicle head-on, according to an affidavit. She was taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center with neck, back and leg injuries, the affidavit said. Police allegedly saw skid marks from Sword's vehicle in Gilliame's lane of travel, proving he had crossed into her lane, the affidavit said. Sword was not injured. He allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, had bloodshot, watery eyes and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He allegedly refused to take a breath test and a search warrant was issued to obtain his blood and urine to test for intoxicants.
