Since You Asked: New trial dates set for teachers accused of abusing students Wednesday Apr 26, 2017 at 12:01 AM Did that (North Medford High School) teacher accused of having a "sexting" relationship with students ever have his trial? — Jim, via email   Richard "Ricky" Michael Fay, 39, previously had a trial date set for April 18 to face felony charges stemming from allegations he had inappropriate relationships with at least two juvenile students while he taught social studies at North Medford High School, but the trial was postponed because of back pain, court documents show.  The trial is set for June 28, court filings show. According to a document filed by his lawyer, Robert Schrank, Fay is reportedly suffering from "severe pain" from complications following back surgery in February that make him unable to sit for extended periods of time, as well as being unable to drive because of medications he's taking. It's the third time his case has been postponed, documents show. An August trial date was postponed after prosecutors requested more time, and a December court date was postponed so Schrank could have more time to negotiate a plea offer with prosecutors. Fay has previously entered not guilty pleas to multiple felony charges that include using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, encouraging child sex abuse in the second degree and luring a minor, alleging that Fay sent and received explicit messages to and from at least two juvenile student victims, and had physical sexual contact with at least one of them. The school removed him from the classroom last year pending the outcome of the trial.  We've also received questions regarding former Crater Renaissance Academy teacher Jeffrey Robert Zundel, whose case alleging he had sexual intercourse with an underage student in 2015 is also still pending. His next court appearance is set for May 1, and his case was postponed while one of his lawyers, Jeni Feinberg, handled a family emergency, according to court records.  Zundel was fired in December 2015, the same month he entered not guilty pleas to 11 counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree sexual abuse. Feinberg also represents former Rogue River High School teacher Jacob Sawyer Vizcarra, 24, who faces three felony counts of second-degree sexual abuse and a misdemeanor count of first-degree official misconduct.
