In the final Skyline event prior to next week’s district tournament, the Pirates had three of its four counting players break 80 and posted a 312 winning total. Chris Troutman paced Phoenix with a steady round of 76 on the par-72 layout. Troutman posted a 38 on each nine. Henley finished second, six shots behind the Pirates. The Hornets’ Blaine Corkill carded a 72 for the low round. Mazama’s Cody Kendall shot the second-best round (75), followed by Troutman and Phoenix teammate Jesse Taylor, who had a 77. The Black Tornado got a 6-4, 6-4 win from its top doubles team of McKenzie Hilmer and Lauren Wilson even though the two were battling illness. They defeated Denise Ledgerwood and Ellie Casey. North’s Jennifer Dumas returned to action after injuring a knee two weeks ago and played well at No. 2 singles before it was dashed.
