I discovered United's flights between Medford and San Francisco were cancelled, but what I found really confusing was a scheduled flight to Albuquerque. I was unaware of airlines flying to New Mexico, is that something new? — Jason R., via email Sure enough, Jason, there it was in living black and white, United Airlines Flight #2376 with a scheduled departure time of 8:36 a.m. We tracked down Rob Brewer of Skywest Airlines, which handles United Express routes for UAL and he told us the bad weather pounding Northern California had led United to reposition some of its aircraft. Brewer told us that there were no ticketed passengers on the flight.  We checked back a little later, to see if the regional jet was indeed winging its way to Albuquerque International Sunport and saw the flight time was delayed to 10:12 a.m. While there may not have been any ticketed passengers aboard the 1,045-mile flight, zigging over California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, FlightAware.com reports the average ticket price was $235.96. Considering how much United charges for flights to Denver and San Francisco, that sounds like a bargain rate. But before anyone gets their hopes up, this was a one-time, weather-related occurrence.
