Crater upends Yreka CENTRAL POINT � Crater couldn�t match up with 7-foot University of Oregon recruit Matt Short. So the Comets used their speed in the open court to neutralize Short�s height. Crater rallied from a one-point halftime decifit to pin a 62-51 loss on visiting Yreka in non-conference boys basketball Tuesday. "We upped our defense and tipped some passes that led to fastbreak baskets," Crater coach Matt Meunier said. "It was big getting the steals and easy layups." Short ended with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Crater 6-7 senior post Andy Haas played an important role in getting Short in foul trouble. "A big key was we went right after Short with Haas at the start of the second half and he picked up his third foul," said Menuier. "When he was out that�s when we got our lead." Haas and senior forward Chris Pettegrew led Crater with 15 points apiece and Haas and Nate Burrill each grabbed five rebounds.
