Central Ave. Baker was a member of the Navy's Operation Deep Freeze, an expedition that built American bases in Antarctica to support the International Geophysical Year of 1957-58. He returned to the Antarctic on the MS National Geographic Endeavor in 2006 and 2010. Learn about great ice sheets that cover the continent to depths of more than 10,000 feet, icebergs, sea ice and penguin rookeries at the Oct. 28 Ashland talk and the Nov. 10 Medford talk. Revelers can party in an environment filled with props, art installations and visual effects accenting the Halloween theme.
