Three motorists injured in wrong-way crash near Gold Hill By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Feb 14, 2022 11:16 AM A A Three Southern Oregon motorists were taken to nearby hospitals over the weekend after a sedan traveling the wrong way on the freeway near Gold Hill reportedly crashed into two SUVs. At 5:44 p.m. Saturday, James S. Airhart, 81, was driving a Buick LaCrosse sedan northbound in the southbound lanes near milepost 42 when he collided with two vehicles, according to information on the crash released by Oregon State Police. Airhart collided into an Audi Q5 SUV driven by 22-year-old Christian J. Davis, and 56-year-old Robert P. Lewis driving a Lincoln Navigator SUV. The three motorists were transported to nearby hospitals to be evaluated for their injuries, according to OSP. Each of the three vehicles involved in the crash were towed away from the scene by Diamond Towing. Police say that Airhart was interviewed at the scene, and that their findings will be forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. As of Monday, Jackson County Circuit Court records showed no charges filed against Airhart, and that Airhart has no criminal history. As of Monday morning, an Asante spokesperson was checking if any of the three motorists are still in the hospital. This story will be updated when we hear back.
