Firefighters extinguish trailer fire Friday in east Medford By Ryan Pfeil of the Mail Tribune Jul 17, 2020 09:34 AM A A A fire ignited in a trash trailer parked in the driveway of an east Medford home early Friday morning, but fire crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to the home. Firefighters responded to a home in the 2000 block of Greenridge Drive at 1:24 a.m., according to dispatch records. One 911 caller reported seeing what liked like a roof burning on McAndrews Road, which runs parallel to Greenridge Drive. Crews searched the area and found a 7-by-14-foot tandem axle dump trailer ablaze, Medford Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Howard said. The trailer, which officials said has a 14,000-pound capacity, contained a mix of debris from ongoing contract work and garbage. “It was mainly household trash,” Howard said. Five people were in the home when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported. The front of the garage and a parked vehicle sustained some minor heat damage. Fire officials said the cause of the fire was undetermined but was not considered suspicious.
