Not because she’s not capable. Wilson just makes the play before it gets too risky. Wilson finished with 16 saves and Maddison Murdoch scored the go-ahead goal as the host Crusaders picked up a 3-1 District 6 victory over North Valley in overtime. Shea Miller put the Knights up 1-0 13 minutes in, but Wilson and the defense kept North Valley (1-1 Dist. 6) at bay the remainder of the game. Advertisement "ShaLane does an excellent job of controlling her defense," said St. Mary’s coach Lia Kirkpatrick. "She’s always talking and directing traffic. "She usually makes the play well out in front of the box before it can do any damage." Katie Sinner evened the game at 1-1 with 10 minutes to play in the first half. Murdoch put St. Mary’s (5-0-1, 1-0 Dist. 6) up 2-1 with a goal from 25 yards out at the five-minute mark in OT. Three minutes later, Murdoch put a cross in front of the North Valley goal that Rachel Batzer finished to complete the scoring. North Valley outshot St. Mary’s, 21-20. Boys Skyline Conference HIDDEN VALLEY 8, ILLINOIS VALLEY 1 — At Cave Junction, Abner Porzio scored three goals and added two assists as Hidden Valley raced to a Skyline win. The Mustangs (3-2, 3-1 Skyline) held a 5-0 lead at the half behind two goals from Porzio and one apiece from Zack Hannah, Danny Richard and Shay Campbell. Dylan Quinlan, Porzio and Flick scored second-half goals to give the Mustangs an 8-0 lead before Jeremy Marhenke scored the lone goal for Illinois Valley (0-6 Skyline) in the 74th minute.
