The girls were all friends and two of them were sisters, Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilberston said in a news release. They were having a sleepover at the home of Gary Lee Pettit, who lives in the 300 block of Cheslock Drive in Murphy. The girls had asked to sleep in the family's trailer parked 30 feet from the home. Pettit told police he awoke at 8 a.m. Saturday to the smell of smoke. He decided to check on the girls and forced open the trailer's door when there no answer after he knocked. He found the girls, one of them his 12-year-old daughter, Skylar Ann Pettit, dead inside, officals said. The fire was confined to the interior of the trailer. Advertisement Sheriff's officals speculate the fire went out after all of the oxygen inside was consumed. The other two girls were identified as 11-year-old Samantha Jean Hauptman and 12-year-old Tiana Jill Hauptman. The girls live with their father in the 100 block of Foxwood Drive. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Autopsies are scheduled for sometime next week. No foul play is suspected, officials said. Would you like to respond to this story?
