PETERSON The Associated Press CORVALLIS — The Oregon State Beavers are headed back to Omaha. Jonah Nickerson scattered five hits and Mitch Canham drove in five runs for Oregon State in a 15-0 victory Sunday night over Stanford, advancing the Beavers to the College World Series. "All around, it looks like it’s going for us. All the clocks are ticking for us," Canham said. "We’d like to go to Omaha right now." Oregon State, making its second consecutive trip to the series after a 53-year drought, will face the winner of today’s deciding Super Regional game between Mississippi and Miami next weekend at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Beavers (44-14) are the only team that went to Omaha last year that made it to the Super Regional round. They defeated Stanford 4-3 Saturday night in the opening game of the best-of-three series. Advertisement Oregon State earned an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament as the repeat Pacific-10 Champion. Stanford (33-27), which finished fifth in the Pac-10, won an at-large berth. Nickerson (11-4) received a standing ovations when he left the game with two outs in the eighth. He struck out seven. "He pitched a great ballgame," Stanford shortstop Chris Minaker said. "He always pitches well. He always gives quality outings." Oregon State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Former Ashland High standout Bill Rowe had an RBI single, Stanford starter Nolan Gallagher hit Canham with the bases loaded, and Shea McFeely singled in a pair of runs. The Beavers added six more runs in the fourth and the game slipped away for Stanford. Scott Santschi hit a two-run home run, his second homer of the season. Rowe added a two-run single and Tyler Graham hit an RBI double before Canham’s sacrifice fly. Canham hit a two-run single in the sixth to make it 12-0, then hit an RBI double in the eighth. Graham, who went 5-for-6 with three RBIs, also singled in a run in the eighth. The Beavers got 19 hits, a season high. Canham’s five RBIs matched the school record. "Stars lined up for us and we took care of business," Oregon State coach Pat Casey said. "These guys didn’t leave any doubt that they’re a great representative of the Pac-10." Gallagher (5-5) allowed six runs on eight hits through three innings. Stanford used seven pitchers. "We were really never in it," Stanford coach Mark Marquess said. "We just could not contain them. We didn’t even come close to scoring a run." Oregon State swept Stanford in a three-game series in Corvallis during the regular season, but the Cardinal rebounded to win nine of their last 15 conference games. The Beavers — nine of whom were picked in Tuesday’s draft — are 27-4 at Coleman Field this year. Stanford has lost seven of eight to Oregon State in the last two seasons and missed the College World Series for the third year in a row. The Cardinal have made 15 trips to the CWS, winning titles in 1987 and 1988. The Cardinal were runners-up in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Before last season, the Beavers had not made the tip to Omaha since 1952. "We’re going to go and look to win the whole darn thing this time," Beavers left fielder Cole Gillespie said.
