Medford police say several roads near The Commons will close at 5 a.m. Friday and remain closed until 7 p.m. Saturday. They include both North Bartlett Street between Fourth and Sixth Streets, and Fifth Street between Central and Riverside avenues. Sixth Street will remain open, but police said there will be no parking between Riverside and Central. The nearby parking garage will be open during normal times. On Saturday, five street sections will close at 7 a.m. to all traffic, except parade entries and emergency services personnel. Those streets include Central Avenue between Highway 238 and Court Street; Court Street between McAndrews Road and Central Avenue; Edwards Street between Beatty Street and Central Avenue; Beatty Street between Edwards Street and Central Avenue; and Manzanita Street between Court Street and Boardman Street. Starting at 8:45 a.m., Riverside Avenue will be utilized as a two-way street between Fourth and Main streets, with traffic controlled by police at the intersections. At 10:30 a.m., Central Avenue will be closed between Edwards and Main streets, with Main Street closed between Bartlett and Sixth streets. The parade begins at 10:50 a.m., with all remaining streets opening no later than 2 p.m., police said. There will be additional street closures Saturday because of the Pear Blossom Run. Oakdale Avenue between Tenth and Eighth streets will close at 5 a.m. At 6:45 a.m., Main and Eight streets will be closed between Oakdale and Columbus avenues. At 8:10 a.m., Main Street's westbound lanes will be closed from Columbus Avenue to Hanley Road. Eastbound traffic will remain open on Main up to Columbus. Drivers should expect intermittent detours from 7 to 9:30 a.m. east of Oakdale to Fir Street and at Eighth and Main streets to accommodate racers. The Eighth Street closure from Columbus Avenue should reopen at 9:30 a.m., while the Main Street closure from Columbus should open at 11 a.m. Patrol officers will patrol the affected streets at 4:30 a.m. Saturday looking for cars that are parked illegally.
