Terrance (Terry) Donald Wells Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 23, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 23, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News August 28, 1944 - August 11, 2016 Terrance (Terry) Donald Wells passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Kansas City, Kansas due to complications during a medical procedure. He was born August 28, 1944 in Great Falls, Montana to Richard (Bud) and Winnie Wells. He was the youngest of two children and was preceded in death by his mom, dad, and sister, Karley. Terry attended Great Falls public schools and continued his education at Rocky Mountain College, graduating in 1966 with a B.A. teaching degree in English and Math. He received a master degree in General Studies from Southern Oregon College in Ashland, Oregon. He married Georgia Dimich May 28, 1966 in Red Lodge, Montana and that fall joined the United States Army and attended O.C.S. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1967 and assigned to Ft. Bliss, Texas where their first son, Mark, was born. He left active duty in 1969, but continued to serve in the Army Reserve, retiring after 20 years with the rank of Major. In the fall of 1969, the family moved to Ashland, Oregon where Terry had accepted a job as an English teacher in the junior high school. In 1972, a second son, Matt, was born completing their family. Terry was a man of many interests and hobbies. He loved music, and in his lifetime learned to play the accordion, banjo, piano, and guitar. Over the years, he enjoyed writing songs and singing them to a select audience, and serving as the worship leader at his church. Years ago he taught himself how to build guitars, ranging in style from classical to 12-string and completed 36 of them throughout his lifetime. His many other hobbies included woodworking, running, hiking, and of course, fishing. He enjoyed all types of fishing, whether on a creek, lake, river, or even the ocean. He loved fly fishing the many small streams in Montana and Oregon the most. His physical accomplishments were many, including running a marathon, summiting Mt Shasta, and riding his bike from Oregon to Montana. He loved hiking in the Beartooth Mountains. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgia; sons, Mark (Hilary) Wells, and Matt (Sarah) Wells; and five grandchildren, Harper, Sascha, Hannah, Abby, and Megan. Other surviving relatives are, Bobby Gruel of Helena; brothers-in-law, Charlie Mathews, Dennis Dimich, Les Dimich, Dan Dimich, Chuck Trevisan, Tim Monahan, Leon Baranko, and Bob Kent; sisters-in-law, Debi Trevisan, Cathy Monahan, Diane Baranko, Donna Kent, Nancy Dimich and Diane Dimich. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Terry enjoyed a great friendship with his cousin, Ed Moore of Belfry when he moved to Red Lodge. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 27, 2016 at Alliance Faith Chapel, 905 S. Broadway Ave. in Red Lodge. There will be a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Chapel Music Fund in Red Lodge; the Richard A. Bullock Memorial Music Fund, P.O. Box 1144 in Red Lodge; Alzheimer’s Research; American Cancer Society; or the American Heart Association.
