The sophomore pitcher tossed a three-hit complete game and drove in four runs as the Eagles defeated Ashland, 7-3, in a Midwestern League contest that had to be moved to the Eagles junior varsity diamond due to unplayable conditions at the varsity field. "It was one of those days we had to overcome a lot of unexpected things," said Eagle Point coach John White, whose team is in position to finish third in the league. "Basically if we can win the last two league games, it should put us in a position to be ranked high enough to host a state play-in game." Eagle Point (17-5, 11-5 MWL) completes league play with a Friday doubleheader at last-place Springfield (1-20, 0-16). Ayers struck out nine and walked none to improve to 15-5 on the season. Ayers provided an RBI single in the third inning, a three-run double an inning later and scored on Tiffani Mitchell's triple to give the Eagles a 7-2 lead. Paige Leeper and Kylene Briggs each had two hits for Eagle Point. "The top of our lineup was instrumental in getting things going," said White. "We played solid softball." SOUTH MEDFORD 13, SHELDON 2, 5 inn.: Pat Moore tossed a no-hitter in the five-inning Southwest Conference victory at South Medford High. Moore, a sophomore pitcher, struck out 11 and walked six. Moore reached the 300-strikeout mark on the season during the win against Sheldon (4-18, 3-16 SWC). Krystal Williams led the Panthers (19-5, 14-5) by going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Norrick also went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs for Grants Pass (21-3, 16-3 SWC). Danielle Taylor went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs for the Cavers and Halleigh Noga contributed two runs and two RBIs. After Phoenix (11-11, 7-6 Sky) cut its deficit to 3-1, the Hornets answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. McKenna Armantrout had two hits and two RBIs to pace Henley (17-6, 12-1).
