He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle when it struck a tree, police said. At 3:20 p.m., Oregon State Police reported troopers were dispatched to a dispute at space 26 at Whitehorse Park, 7501 Lower River Road, outside Grants Pass. While en route, police were notified that Phillips, who was allegedly involved in the dispute, had taken off in a vehicle.  He crashed into a tree just down the road. No other vehicles or people were struck or injured, police said. The road remained open while emergency responders and investigators worked. Rural Metro Fire assisted OSP on scene. Police said Phillips was reportedly under the influence of intoxicants when he left the campground, but investigators haven't confirmed that. No additional information about the domestic dispute was available. Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to contact Senior Trooper Scott Holsworth at 541-955-6370.
