Rogue Creamery is part of Oregon's first group of B corporations Jan 02, 2014 12:00 AM A A Rogue Creamery has been involved in many ground-breaking efforts during the 12-year tenure of owners David Gremmels and Cary Bryant. The Central Point cheesemaker added another distinction today when it joined the inaugural class of Oregon B corporation firms registered with the state. B corporations commit to social responsible practices and community involvement. A new law that enables businesses build social responsibility into their bylaws took effect in Oregon today. Statewide, 24 businesses signed up as state B corporations today. Although state law only began recognizing B corporations today, businesses have been able to obtain certification for meeting national Benefit Corporation standards. Prior to today, 37 Oregon companies achieved national certification, ranking Oregon second in number of B Corporations relative to population and second in number of such companies relative to total number of businesses located in the state. — Greg Stiles See more in Friday's Mail Tribune.
