Medford K9 sniffs out three suspects, one weapon in 7-Eleven robbery By Terri Harber Updated: Nov 10, 2021 12:16 PM A A 4 View all photos K9 ‘Bones’ led officers on the search because he has a nose for it Several Medford Police officers were dispatched to a report at about 2:19 a.m. Tuesday of shots fired during a robbery at the 7-Eleven store in the 1700 block of East McAndrews Road. Bones, Medford Police Department K-9 Bones, a Medford Police Department K-9 officer, led the search, according to Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau. “He’s a good boy,” Budreau said. According to MPD investigators, the suspects entered the store and had stolen beer and cigarettes before fleeing. The clerk followed the suspects into the parking lot and one of them fired several rounds toward the employee. No one was struck during the shooting. While en-route to the call, witnesses provided officers with a direction of travel by the three men, who fled on foot eastbound. The suspects ran to a home they were staying at, but the men were tracked down by Bones and located in the backyard of the residence in the 1100 block of Wabash Avenue at 2:51 a.m. West The stolen property, as well as the handgun used during the robbery were recovered. Beau Russell West, 22, of the 5500 block of Pacific Highway, Medford, was arrested for first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, and a parole violation pertaining to second-degree robbery as well as misdemeanor offenses of third-degree theft, and disorderly conduct and harassment. West is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail. Shimard Alexander Tony Shimard, 18, of no reported address, Medford, was arrested for first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, attempted first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as misdemeanor offenses of menacing and third-degree theft. Shimard is being held in the Jackson County Jail for $150,000 bail. Hahn Chance Christian Hahn, 18, of the 1500 block of South Peach Street, Medford, was arrested for first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a concealed firearm as well as misdemeanor offenses of third-degree theft and resisting arrest. Hahn is being held in the Jackson County Jail for $139,000 bail.
