$100k, heroin seized from Medford houses By Staff report Jan 17, 2019 04:56 PM A A One man is in jail on $1 million bail after a drug task force in Southern Oregon seized $100,000 in cash and two pounds of heroin from a pair of Medford addresses. Erasmo Ayala-Rangel, 34, faces felony drug and money-laundering charges after police seized nearly a kilogram of heroin and $80,000 cash from an east Medford address, along with another $20,000 from his home, according to documents filed in Jackson County Circuit Court. The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team served a search warrant Wednesday at Ayala-Rangel’s west Medford home in the 2900 block of Far West Avenue and seized more than $20,000 in cash and digital scales. At a property in the 4300 block of Wolf Run Drive, MADGE seized more than 2 pounds of heroin and another $80,000, which allegedly belonged to Ayala-Rangel. “The money located on Wolf Run was heat-sealed for shipment,” court documents filed by police say. Circuit Judge Laura Cromwell set Ayala-Rangel’s bail at $1 million Thursday afternoon. Aside from two minor traffic violations more than a decade ago, Ayala-Rangel had no prior criminal history in Oregon, state and federal court records show.
