Since You Asked: Biddle Road goes deeper into Central Point than you think Sunday Feb 5, 2017 at 12:01 AM I got a call from an old friend who was staying at the Super 8 in Central Point the other day. He told me was staying at the Medford Super 8 on Biddle Road. I know where Super 8 is, but that sure looks like East Pine Street to me. Can you enlighten this long-time resident about where Biddle Road ends and East Pine Street begins? — Warren K., Medford   As often is the case, things are not what they seem — especially when it comes to road and street names in Jackson County, where one magically becomes another. Indeed, Biddle Road, which springs up from the intersection of Jackson and 4th streets in Medford fairly parallels the freeway until veering due north for a few blocks, skirting the airport and then hooking across Table Rock Road. Aptly named Biddle & Table Rock Nursery Plant Sales, on the northwest corner of the intersection, is listed as 4404 Biddle Road. The property is in the county but claims Central Point on its internet advertising. There are few residences or entities between Table Rock and Hamrick Road, which itself is unique because it starts just west of the Table Rock-Vilas Road intersection, crosses Biddle-Pine (as some locals know it) and then hooks east back into Table Rock. For most of his 19 years working for the city of Central Point, Community Development Director Tom Humphrey didn't pay much attention to where East Pine ended and Biddle began. Addresses for residential construction in Central Point east all have addresses from side streets even though houses back to the thoroughfare. But with recent commercial activity, street address assignments, which were thought to be Pine, came back with Biddle Road. Construction by a veterinary clinic and Rogue Valley Microdevices, east of the Super 8, are turning what was bare land for years into a commercial area. Those businesses will have Biddle Road addresses. "When those areas are subdivided, we give them addresses, and they're sent to the post office and emergency agencies," Humphrey said.
