In the past few days, a barrel of oil has gone from $75-plus to less than $70. And supply has been determined to be more adequate than originally thought. So why are gasoline prices continuing to increase when the price of oil is decreasing? -- Bert W., Medford Oregon is caught in some weird vortex, Bert. No, not THAT vortex. Prices have been dropping in the rest of the country but not here. According to AAA Fuel Gauge Report, the average price of gas nationwide has dropped 16 cents to $2.90 a gallon in the past week. AAA officials say this downward trend hasn't been reflected at the pump in Oregon — yet. In fact, the price of regular in the Medford-Ashland hit an all-time high of $3.082 on Monday, but had already dropped to $3.077 by Tuesday. It's a start.
