SOU pitcher Kurtz garners CC honor May 05, 2009 12:00 AM A A ASHLAND — Southern Oregon freshman Jordyn Kurtz has been named the Cascade Conference's pitcher of the week. Kurtz threw six complete games last week, winning five of the them. During that stretch, she allowed just 11 earned runs for a 1.83 ERA. She also had 29 strikeouts. In the week's only loss, Kurtz limited Cascade Conference champion College of Idaho to five hits in a 7-5 defeat. Kurtz finished the season with a school record 30 complete games. She also batted .421 last week with two home runs and a double.
