County approves $205,000 for White City street Jackson County has approved $205,000 to build a new street in White City as part of the Urban Renewal Agency's attempts to encourage development in the area. Commissioners approved the funding Wednesday. The new Isabella Way will connect Falcon and E streets. Currently under construction, it is scheduled to be complete within a couple of months. Kelly Madding, the county's economic and special development director, said the funding comes from the agency's grant program for road improvements close to new housing developments. "We have worked with developers who are willing to build stick-built housing as opposed to modular housing or mobile homes," she said. Isabella Way is being built by developers Paul Grout and Maurice Torano as part of a new 26-unit subdivision. Grout said they expect to get final authorization soon from the county to start building the homes. "We are going to have the final plat on the project within the next three weeks," Grout said. Building should start three to six weeks later. The houses will be single-family residences with three bedrooms and two baths. Madding said the agency's mission was to "eliminate blight" in White City by improving the lives of its residents through new roads and several new housing projects. Grout said the Urban Renewal Agency had opened the area up for development through improved infrastructure. Grout and Torano also developed the Brie Terrace subdivision in White City. The Urban Renewal Agency is responsible for various road improvements, including the current road work on A Street.
