Rochelle Spellman, 20, of Talent, pulled out from Creel Road into the path of a vehicle traveling south on Highway 99 at about 4:30 p.m., according to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Kevin Myers. She was transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center where she died, according to OSP reports. Spellman was driving a 2000 Chevrolet four-door and there were no passengers in her car, according to Myers. Javier Sanchez, 43, of Talent, was driving a 1996 Ford Escort and hit the driver’s side of Spellman’s car, according to Myers. Advertisement He suffered a fractured clavicle and was transported to the hospital by a friend, said the trooper. Myers cites driver error on Spellman’s part as the cause of the accident, and said he considered the investigation complete. He said no drugs or alcohol were involved. He said the southbound lane of Highway 99 was blocked for two hours. In addition to OSP, Jackson County Fire District 5, the Phoenix Fire Department and Ashland Life Support were on the scene.
