The Mavericks (45-9-1) will next play either Logan, Utah, or Nampa, Idaho, at 11 a.m. PDT today. North Medford made things interesting in the top of the ninth inning, loading the bases with no outs before Bennett Rodgers struck out and Larson Kindreich hit into a double play. The stage was set after a Cub error and singles by Dallas Casebier and Dakota Adams. Cody (44-16) will face the Bitterroot Red Sox of Montana at 5 tonight. Justin Geyer’s sacrifice squeeze bunt scored Kindreich and put North Medford ahead, 1-0, in the top of the first inning. Kindreich had gotten on base with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Brennan Blaylock’s two-out RBI single evened the score in the bottom of the first. Cody took a 3-1 lead in the fifth with an RBI fielder’s choice and a North Medford error. The Cubs made it 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh on the Mavericks’ second error. North Medford, which stranded nine base runners, did not get a hit from the second until the sixth inning. Dallin Jones earned the save for the Cubs after entering in the ninth. John Beaudrie was 3-for-4 with two runs for Cody. Kindreich pitched seven innings, allowing four runs (one earned) and seven hits. He was replaced by Casebier in the eighth. North Medford;100;000;000;—;1;4;2 Cody;100;020;10x;—;4;7;5 L.
