LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Letters to the Editor, May 31 Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 31, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted May. 31, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News Off by a few I agree with the intent of the Judith Burgess’ (May 18) and A. Adams’ (May 25) letters to the editor entitled “Speak English.” But I think they may be off a few hundred years. More accurately, we should all learn the language of the Takelma Indians. Judson Hyatt Medford Just asking With the 2016 election season in full swing, some questions come to mind: If, as we hear from various sources, Hillary Clinton's personal server was destroyed, can anyone believe that? When one ponders the agenda, the mindset and the moral compass of the people who closely associate with the Clintons and many others in our nation's capital, are any of them trustworthy? Did those assigned by Hillary to destroy her server really destroy it, or will they preserve it in order to manipulate her if she becomes president? Just asking. Mette McDermott Medford No to memorial Taking a very popular recreation park and converting it to a Vietnam War memorial is not what I see as a good fit for Central Point. Don Jones Park already has a war memorial in it honoring both the living and the dead who have served our country in all its wars. To stick a 500-foot wall right smack in the center of where numerous children and families now come to play will hijack the very purpose for this park and put restraints on what kinds of events can happen here. You don't usually see playgrounds and water parks in cemeteries, nor tennis courts in nature reserves. A Vietnam memorial deserves its own suitable piece of land. Those who want one should build it, maintain it and pay the costs of its construction and upkeep. Don Jones Park was intended as a place for local residents and their families to recreate. Don't take that from them. Fred Harrison Central Point Take dog waste away To a dog walker on Cherry Lane: I appreciate the fact that you pick up after your dog. Good job! What I don't appreciate is that you put your baggie of poop in my clean trash container that had been emptied by Rogue Disposal on Monday morning. I keep my barrel inside my garage, and the smell was horrendous, so I will leave your bag out near the sidewalk, and you may take it home with you on your next walk. Thank you. Barbara Ragus Medford Determination and heroism While ISIS is capturing cities and oil fields, Barack Obama has dug in his his heels and taken a strong stand ... against global warming! Wow! With that kind of determination and heroism, maybe he'll go nose-to-nose with the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. Who said that Democrats are weak on foreign policy?
