II third-ranked Coyotes Saturday night. The Raiders (12-11, 7-2) garnered their fourth straight Cascade Conference road win, snapped a Coyote seven-game winning streak and halted a four-game ACI home streak against league foes dating back to last season. Southern Oregon shot 69-percent in the first half, built a 37-20 halftime edge and led by as many as 26 in the second stanza en route to the school’s most lopsided win in 43 meetings against Albertson (14-5, 7-1). It was also the Raiders’ first regular-season triumph on the Coyote home floor since 1994. "We dominated the game defensively," said SOU head coach Brian McDermott. "We just totally took them out of their rhythm." Sophomore forward Shea Washington completed one of the most dazzling weekends in SOU history with game-highs of 28 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-foot-7 Thurston High graduate compiled SOU’s most prolific individual scoring clip since 1993 with 40 points, along with 17 rebounds, in Friday’s 87-85 overtime win at Eastern Oregon. Advertisement SOU built a 57-31 cushion with 12:15 remaining and quelled a Coyote rally that had cut the margin to 59-45 with a 13-0 run fueled by three consecutive 3-pointers by junior forward Brad Coen. "We hardly got contested shots the whole night," McDermott said of the Raiders’ effective offense. "We just ran our stuff so well. It doesn’t happen very often over there (in Idaho), but tonight was a clinic." Nick Borrevik added 14 points, Coen had 12 and Jared Abell scored 15 off the bench for SOU. The second-place Raiders complete a four-game road trip next weekend against Western Baptist and Concordia. Women’s Basketball ALBERTSON 70, SOUTHERN OREGON 46 — At Caldwell, Idaho, Michelle Dyreng scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the first half, as the Albertson women’s basketball team extended its win streak to three games with a convincing 70-46 victory over defending Cascade Conference champion Southern Oregon on Saturday night. The Lady ‘Yotes (7-8, 5-3 CCC) used an early 8-0 run to open a 12-5 lead and were never threatened. Albertson ended the half with eight straight points to take a 34-19 lead to the locker room. It was the first win for Albertson over SOU (5-11, 4-5) in five tries. The Raiders hit just 7 of 29 shots in the first half and were never in the game. Cotterell scored 14 for the Coyotes, while Heidi Goicoechea (11 points, seven rebounds) and Kim Strunk (10 points, seven rebounds) were also in double figures. Wrestling CLACKAMAS OPEN — At Oregon City, Colin Murphy and Brian Wilson each claimed championships to lead Southern Oregon at the Clackamas Open. Murphy won his title at 149 pounds, while Wilson claimed the championship at 165. Heavyweight Wes Balensifer had his 14-match winning streak snapped, however, as the NAIA’s second-ranked senior lost a 3-2 decision to Israel Silva of North Idaho College in the championship final. With the match tied 1-all and seemingly destined for overtime, Silva caught Balensifer on his heels for a takedown with eight seconds to go. Balensifer, whose record dropped to 28-2, regrouped for an escape but didn’t have enough time to land a takedown. Josh Fitzgerald also placed second for SOU at 174, while Carl Green (125) and Jesse Armstrong (157) each finished fourth to bring SOU’s total of Nationals qualifiers to 12.
