Second suspect arrested in Eagle Point pot robbery By Nick Morgan of the Mail Tribune Jan 15, 2020 06:26 PM A A A second suspect is in the Jackson County Jail after being arrested Tuesday on charges accusing her of being part of a robbery at an Eagle Point marijuana grow. Julia Marie MacLennan, 28, of Jacksonville, faces Measure 11 charges stemming from a November home-invasion robbery in which dozens of pounds of marijuana and a new SUV were stolen from a farm outside Eagle Point. MacLennan also faces charges of vehicle-theft, burglary and aggravated theft for her alleged role in the Nov. 2 robbery in the 2700 block of Alta Vista Road in which two masked suspects clad in body armor stormed the property, handcuffed two victims inside the home, and made off with roughly 36 pounds of marijuana, jewelry and a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV. The SUV, missing for about two months after the robbery, was recovered Dec. 30 in Northeast Portland, according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Mike Moran. Moran wouldn’t comment on how police were able to track down MacLennan prior to her arrest Tuesday afternoon, but court records show a warrant was issued for her arrest in the robbery case Dec. 19 — roughly two days after a grand jury charged MacLennan with first- and second-degree robbery, aggravated first-degree theft and first-degree burglary. MacLennan made her initial court appearance Wednesday. During the hearing, Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Greif set bail at $250,000 along with intensive release conditions. Under Oregon’s Measure 11 law, first-degree robbery carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 90 months in prison, and a second-degree robbery conviction carries a 70-month prison sentence. Nathan Daniel Perkins, 36, MacLennan’s alleged accomplice, has been in the Jackson County Jail since the day of the crime, after a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy reportedly followed Perkins across two county lines on Interstate 5 into Douglas County, according to earlier news reports. The chase ended south of Roseburg when Douglas County sheriff’s deputies deployed spike strips on the BMW Perkins was driving. Inside the car, police allegedly found tactical vests, handcuffs, a shotgun, a handgun and items reported stolen in the Eagle Point robbery.
