Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said the victim was tending to tomato plants in the garden just before midnight when he was approached by two men, whom he described as being Latino and in their 20s. Budreau said the victim reported having a brief conversation with the men before he was attacked. One of the assailants knocked the victim to the ground, he said, and both men began kicking him as he tried to protect himself by curling into the fetal position. When he began shouting for help, the attackers fled. He then called the police. Budreau described the victim as being "in noticeable pain," sustaining multiple small bruises and cuts to his head and ribs. Medford police posted a surveillance video from a nearby camera at the 500 block of Union Street showing the two men running eastbound away from the scene. Anyone with information about the incident can call in a tip at 541-618-1847, or see other ways to submit a tip on the Medford Police website at http://www.ci.medford.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=2683 .
