Peterson turned in the fastest time in the NAIA ranks this season and placed third. The mark was previously held by Mickey Losinksi at 3:52.95. The men’s 4x400 relay team turned in another season best, placing seventh in 3:20.89. Junior Ross Dexter won the 1,500 meters in a season-best time of 3:57 for SOU’s lone win. Crater High graduate Trevor Palmer ran a personal best time of 1:54 in the 800 to place fourth while NAIA provisional qualifier Ryan Pfeil turned in another solid effort in the 5,000, placing eighth in 15:16. All-American Brynn Cogdill was the lone Raider woman in the top eight, placing seventh in the 1,500 in 4:46. Advertisement Several Raiders missed the meet to prepare for the Cascade Conference Heptathlon/Decathlon Championships, Monday and Tuesday in Portland. Softball SOUTHERN OREGON 8-6, NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN 0-2 — At Ashland, the 19th-ranked Southern Oregon University softball team compiled 25 hits in 51 at-bats while sweeping Northwest Christian College in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday. Junior catcher Carla Lillis drove in five runs and raised her season batting average to .358 by going 6-for-7 in the twin bill, and SOU received complete-game pitching gems from sophomore Amanda Cregan (a three-hit shutout in Game 1) and freshman Megan Beugli. The Raiders triggered the eight-run mercy rule in the sixth after senior third baseman Alexis Cooper and Amy Williams had back-to-back, bases-loaded RBI singles off Crusader starter Heather Wall. Cregan retired the final 13 NCC batters to up her season mark to 8-2. In Game 2, Southern snapped a 1-all deadlock through 3½ innings with a four-run frame that began with a Lillis triple and contained a two-run single by sophomore outfielder Selisha Early, who went 3-for-3 in the two games. Junior shortstop Kara Ray posted a 3-for-7 clip with three stolen bases for SOU in the doubleheader, while sophomore Megan Rock was 3-for-6. The Raiders cap their weekend slate today by hosting NAIA foe Notre Dame de Namur in a noon doubleheader.
