The RiverDogs won the opener, 8-2, and won the nightcap, 9-6. In the first game, the RiverDogs jumped out early with four runs in the first inning and completed the rout with four runs in the sixth. Pitcher Derek Draper went the distance and recorded nine strikeouts. Southern Oregon scored four runs again in the first inning of Game 2. Advertisement Humboldt roared back in the fourth and closed the gap to one. The RiverDogs responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to pull away for good. Eric Beasly, Matt Smith and Brett Timmerman each had two hits for the RiverDogs and knocked in one, two and three RBIs respectively. Babe Ruth 15-YEAR-OLD REGIONALS — At Eagle Point, Jesse Keesee was able to stop a Wyoming no-hitter with a sixth inning single, but early errors by Upper Rogue were too much to overcome in a 2-1 loss Saturday. After scoring both its runs in the third inning off of an Upper Rogue throwing error, Wyoming was able to hold on for the win behind the pitching of Ryan Iliff. In other tournament play Klamath Falls prevailed 6-1 over Alberta, Canada, Pendleton won 5-3 against Montana and North Washington defeated Idaho, 11-4. Softball UNDER 18 FASTPITCH NATIONALS — At Clovis, Calif., the Black Tornado finished 2-3 in tournament play with a loss to the North Carolina Cardinals on Friday. Of the 116 teams, Medford finished 64th.
