Shakespeare's debt to oral tradition Aug 10, 2006 12:00 AM A A Dorothy Ormes and Patricia O'Scannell present a program of folktales and music related to Shakespeare's plays. The program explores the magic of Shakespeare's universal appeal through his use of traditional stories and myth to create his plots and hook the interest of his audience. The plays represented are Much Ado About Nothing, Cymbeline, and The Tempest. Dorothy Ormes is currently a Technical Services and Theater Arts Librarian at Southern Oregon University's Hannon Library. As a professional storyteller, she has been a featured at festivals in California, Oregon, and Washington. Patricia O'Scannell is a music director for the Green Show at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, as well as Terra Nova Consort, and the University's Collegium Musicum.
