Pirates coach Flenner gets 250th win Sep 19, 2016 12:00 AM A A TALENT — Rosendo Juarez-Flores worked his magic all over the field Monday as Phoenix opened Skyline Conference play by helping coach Dennis Flenner capture his 250th victory in a 3-1 decision over Hidden Valley at Colver Field. “When you get the kind of kids I get every year, it’s easy to be successful,” said Flenner, who’s 250-80-10 in 21 seasons at Phoenix. “It was his (Juarez-Florez’s) game today. It was nice to get our first league win off our chest.” Juarez-Flores set up Zach Castillo’s goal from 25 yards out at the 14-minute mark to put Phoenix (2-2, 1-0 Sky) on the scoreboard. After Hidden Valley’s Mason Lindorf evened the score in the 42nd minute, Juarez-Flores answered four minutes later on an assist by Luis Ascencion to give the Pirates the lead for good. Phoenix’s Jacob Jee scored on Juarez-Flores’ pass in the 57th minute. Girls HIDDEN VALLEY 2, PHOENIX 1: At Murphy, Avery Renaeu converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute for Phoenix in the Skyline Conference opener. Goalkeeper Faith Moody had eight saves for the Pirates (2-2, 0-1 Sky), who trailed 1-0 at halftime. Hidden Valley (2-3, 1-0) recaptured the lead with 10 minutes to go.
