Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 1, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Aug. 1, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News Aug. 1, 1915 REGISTRATION FOR BIRTHS AND DEATHS NOW COMPULSORY Dr. Roburg of Portland, representing the state Board of Health, has just completed the arrangement of Jackson County into districts and appointed registrars for the purpose of carrying out the new registration law passed by the last legislature for births and deaths in harmony with the requirements of the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce and Labor so as to place the state of Oregon within the registration area of the United States. In fulfilling these requirements the county has been divided into eight divisions with registrars as follows: Medford No. 5, Dr. F.G. Thayer. Jacksonville, including Applegate and adjoining territory No. 25, Dr. R.E. Golden. Ashland, including the country south and east No. 7, Dr. F.G. Swedenburg. Phoenix and Talent No. 24, Dr. John F. Hart. Central Point and vicinity No. 28, J.W. Jacobs. Gold Hill, including Sams Valley, Beagle, Asbestos, Rock Point, Foots Creek and Galls Creek No. 27, Myrtle R. Day. Eagle Point, including Trail, Prospect, Butte Falls, Derby, Lake Creek, Climax and Wellen No. 26, Dr. Wm. W.P. Holt. Registrar for Rogue River to be chosen. Section 21 of this law reads as follows: Every person who shall violate or willfully fail, neglect or refuse to comply with any provision of this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and a second offense shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars, and for a third and each subsequent offense shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty dollars or more than two-hundred-fifty dollars or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, and every person who shall willfully furnish any false information for any certificate required by this act, or who shall make any false statement in any such certificate, shall be guilty of a gross misdemeanor. ROGUE RIVER DAY TUESDAY, AUGUST 10 AT BIG EXPOSITION The commissioner of special days has reserved August 10 as Rogue River Valley Day, and in order to make this event a big success, the Commercial Club requests every town in the valley to co-operate. Tickets for round-trip from Medford will be sold August 7 and 8, 15-day limit for $17. Write or telephone the secretary of the Commercial Club for reservations not later than August 5 in order that all arrangements can be made for your pleasure and comfort.
