Fire officials say burnout operations related to the Crescent fire were successful and have established a strong fire line to the north and east along Highway 138 and the park’s North Entrance Road. Smoke may persist and further temporary closures may be necessary depending on fire behavior or suppression actions. The Pacific Crest Trail from the park’s north boundary to the junction with Lightning Springs Trail will remain closed until all danger from spotting has passed. The Boundary Springs Trail, Bald Crater Loop Trail, and Bert Creek Trail also remain closed. All park road and facilities are open. Park officials say that smoke within the park has been intermittent and limited depending on wind direction and that viewing conditions can be variable throughout the day and range from hazy to clear. See Crater Lake’s website, www.nps.gov/crla , for updated information or to view real time conditions from the park’s webcams.
