Since You Asked: Passengers won't see a difference at security gate Friday Dec 15, 2017 at 12:01 AM I've seen television reports, heard it on the radio, and read a bunch of stories about how TSA will be upping its efforts to clamp down on weapons filtering through security checkpoints. I'm under the impression there will be a lot more machines and bag searches from now on. What will that mean when I show up for a flight on a foggy December morning? — Jana K., Central Point For several months, we've heard changes were coming, along with the admonishment that travelers best arrive two hours before their flight. We'll let you decide just how early you need to get out of bed to beat the 4:30 a.m. rush. New airport Director Jerry Brienza had similar questions for TSA when he met with agency officials. He was told whatever changes are or will be occurring won't be noticeable to the public. "Everything is going to be internal, and the community will see no effects," Brienza said. We're also told that with a separate line for TSA Precheck passengers, it will keep lines from backing up any more than regular lengths.
