North nets victory North Medford's top boys singles player Jon Endrikat responded well to his most difficult tennis match of the season Tuesday at District Courts. Gustavo Menezes of Klamath Union provided a stiff test, but Endrikat improved his undefeated string this season to four straight with a 6-4 and 6-2 victory and the Black Tornado won the Southern Oregon Conference dual 6-3. "I think Gustavo has been Jon's toughest competition so far this year," said North Medford coach Ray Odor. "Jon had to step it up on the crucial points. Gustavo did a good job of making Jon play." Odor changed his lineup by putting doubles players Brock Jonasson and Jeremy Leever into singles. "I took Brock and Jeremy out of doubles because I knew they has some good singles players," said Odor. Jonasson lost to Reid Arthur, one of the SOC's better players, 6-2 and 6-3 in No. 2 singles, but Leever came away with a 6-1 and 6-0 victory against Jered Lundquist in the third spot. North Medford improved to 3-1 in the SOC by capturing four of five singles matches and gained a split in the four doubles contests. SINGLES -- Jon Endrikat, NM, d.
